Real household income per person: other countries and the OECD: NZ data and downloads: definitions

Annual real gross disposable income per person from the OECD household dashboard, indexed to 2007 Q1 = 100. This national-accounts measure includes households and non-profit institutions serving households, and excludes social transfers in kind. It measures changes in purchasing power over time rather than comparable dollar income levels.

Real household income per person: other countries and the OECD: NZ data and downloads: comparison limits

These affect how the figures can be compared.

  • New Zealand has no income-index observations in this dashboard; no substitute measure is used.
  • The base is 2007 Q1 = 100, not annual 2007 = 100. Index levels compare changes since the base, not income levels between countries.
  • This measures average income per person, not a typical household or survey-based median.
  • Gross disposable income excludes social transfers in kind, unlike the gross adjusted disposable income PPP dataset.
  • OECD annual figures come from the seasonally and calendar-adjusted dashboard series; latest years differ by country.
